Keenondots: Unifying Provisioning and Billing for Resellers

Keenondots is a Dutch cloud automation provider that helps resellers license and bill for cloud services. Resellers rely on Keenondots for a single, reliable process that connects provisioning with financials.

The Challenge

Connect Odin and Autotask into One Reseller Experience

Resellers needed a smooth way to sell, provision, and bill cloud services. That required Odin Service Automation to work in step with Autotask for IT business management. The team first considered Microsoft Flow, but it could not support the level of complexity they needed.

To deliver the reseller experience, Keenondots had to integrate separate systems so that customer data, licenses, and billing details stayed aligned.

One experience for resellers

Needed Odin Service Automation and Autotask to act as one process for selling, provisioning, and billing; Microsoft Flow could not handle the complexity.

Autotask↔Odin with PS support

Flowgear and its services team delivered about 50 workflows syncing customer data and licenses, plus API consolidation to simplify partner integrations.

The Solution

Flowgear With Consulting Support

Keenondots selected Flowgear for the integration, and engaged Flowgear’s professional services team to assist with planning and delivery.

The project started in November 2016 and went live over April to May 2017. An iterative approach, supported by weekly sessions with Flowgear, kept work moving and visible. Today, Keenondots runs about 50 integration workflows. Customer data is synchronized from Autotask into Odin, and license information from Odin is updated back into Autotask, so reseller accounting stays current.

“We also used Flowgear to simplify our API interface by consolidating APIs of different systems,” said Tim Geerdinck, partner success manager for resellers.

The Results

Reliable Operations for Resellers, Clearer Budgeting for the Business

Resellers get a consistent process for licensing and billing, and back office records match what was provisioned.

Highlights:

  • Around 50 live workflows keep customer and license data in step between Autotask and Odin
  • API consolidation reduces complexity for internal teams and partners
  • Subscription billing for Flowgear makes budgeting for delivery and ongoing work easier to manage

“The combination of the Flowgear platform and their professional services team allowed us to use standard integration patterns as well as developing the unique integrations that we need to be competitive and offer exceptional customer service”, said Geerdinck.

Reliable ops and clearer budgets

Resellers get consistent licensing and billing; API consolidation reduced complexity, and subscription billing made costs predictable, said Tim Geerdinck.

Looking Ahead

Keenondots is assessing further additions, including a platform dashboard in Microsoft Power BI built through Flowgear.

Flowgear, the agile cloud integration platform, enables Keenondots to integrate provisioning and financial applications to provide a very reliable system for resellers offering licenses and services.
Keenondots, a Dutch Cloud Automation Platform provider with a reputation for excellent customer service, has a reliable system that assists its resellers in licensing and billing for the use of cloud services. The challenge was that the customers required the integration of Odin Service Automation with Autotask IT Business Management software. The solution that Keenondots selected was the Flowgear integration platform, with professional services consulting from Flowgear. The core of the Keenondots service offering to resellers is a virtual delivery platform for cloud services which includes licensing and billing functionality. To implement this delivery platform meant that separate solutions had to be integrated to offer a seamless experience to reseller users.

Software evaluation

Initially Keenondots considered the Microsoft Flow application but found it was not sophisticated enough to deliver the solution they wanted. However, with Flowgear they found not only an integration solution that had the functionality they needed, but also Flowgear’s professional services team helped to speed up the process of building integrations and gave technical support for integrating complex systems.

The integration project

Tim Geerdinck, partner success manager for resellers, explained that they started the project in November 2016, and went live over April-May 2017. An agile project approach was employed, facilitated by weekly meetings with Flowgear. Keenondots are currently running around 50 integration workflows; for example, customer data is synchronized from Autotask into Odin and license information from Odin is updated into Autotask. This enables resellers to keep their accounting systems up-to-date. “We also used Flowgear to simplify our API interface by consolidating APIs of different systems,” said Geerdinck.

Benefits

The Flowgear cloud integration platform allows Keenondots to integrate technically difficult platforms together. Geerdinck commented that Flowgear’s monthly subscription model based made budgeting for the project and ongoing work easy to manage. They are now considering what additional integrations can be added, such as creating a platform dashboard via Flowgear in Microsoft PowerBI. “The combination of the Flowgear platform and their professional services team allowed us to use standard integration patterns as well as developing the unique integrations that we need to be competitive and offer exceptional customer service”, said Geerdinck.
