How Coricraft automated inventory across 70 locations and freed its team for higher-value work.
Coricraft is a leading South African furniture manufacturer and retailer that has grown from a single store to 70 warehouse and store locations over 20 years. A recent acquisition introduced rapid product creation - 500 to 1,000 new product codes per week, alongside the need to synchronize inventory between the acquired company's platform and the corporate SYSPRO ERP system. Manual processes could not keep pace.
500 to 1,000 new SKUs a week and no scalable way to handle them
The acquisition created a compound integration problem. Each week, the acquired company generated hundreds of new product codes that had to be reflected accurately across 70 separate warehouse and store locations, each maintaining its own inventory in SYSPRO. Manual data entry was the only mechanism, and it produced hours-long inventory update cycles and multi-day delays for stock movement between locations.
The volume of new SKUs meant that any solution relying on hand-crafted, per-system custom code would be too expensive and slow to implement before the problem outgrew it.
Start in one area, expand as confidence grows
Coricraft evaluated multiple integration platforms and selected Flowgear. Applications Manager Mark Gawronsky noted that no other option came close. The initial scope connected SYSPRO with the acquired company's system for inventory synchronization, and automated stock movement tracking between the 70 warehouses and stores, eliminating the manual reconciliation step.
Flowgear's cloud platform let the team start in one operational area without high upfront cost, then expand. As Gawronsky observed, as experience with Flowgear grew, the team kept finding additional ways to apply it.
Hours to minutes, and a platform that keeps expanding
Routine inventory updates that previously took hours now complete in minutes. Stock movement processing that previously took days now completes in minutes. The team avoided hiring additional staff to handle the growing data volume, and redeployed existing staff to higher-value activities. Inventory accuracy is now real-time across all 70 locations.
- Inventory update tasks reduced from hours to minutes
- Stock movement processing reduced from days to minutes
- No additional headcount needed to manage growing data volumes
- Existing staff redeployed to higher-value activities
- Real-time inventory accuracy across 70 locations
“As our experience with Flowgear has grown we're finding 101 more things we can do with it. Flowgear has been proven over and over.”
Expanding integration to unify retail and manufacturing
With retail operations now running smoothly, Coricraft is extending its Flowgear implementation to connect retail and manufacturing operations, further streamlining end-to-end business processes.
